This Land Press is hosting a poetry circus in Stillwater to introduce new readers to its recently published anthology “Poetry to the People.” The collection includes 40 works by acclaimed poets such as Ron Padgett, Rochelle Hurt, Joe Brainard, and Kevin Young, selected and edited by Abby Wendle and Scott Gregory.

The event is Saturday, April 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Brooklyn’s Cellar at 7th and Main in downtown Stillwater. The evening will include performances by San Francisco-based sound artist Jorge Bachmann and Oklahoma poets Nick Weaver and Deborah J. Hunter, as well as a chat with Poetry to the People editor Abby Wendle. It’s rumored there will be free face painting, live jazz, a golden cowboy, and DJ Chris Hill.

The event is free and open to the public, and copies of Poetry to the People, as well as other merchandise from This Land Press, will be available for purchase.
