Andrew Gumbel: A Fresh Look at the Oklahoma City Bombing

Andrew Gumbel, co-author of the book Oklahoma City: What the Investigation Missed–and Why it Still Matters (2012, HarperCollins) with Roger Charles, expounds on the connection between Timothy McVeigh and Elohim City. In his book, he alleges that government agencies neglected to complete investigations into the far right connections of the bombing, and that many questions remain unanswered.

In a book by death row convict David Paul Hammer (“Deadly Secrets”; highly recommended) who was housed in the same prison in Terra Haute, IN, McVeigh said he was working as a federal agent who was ordered to infiltrate right-wing, anti-government, white supremacist groups.  He did admit visiting Elohim City numerous times, I believe it was 7 or 8 times.

It didn’t sound like anyone who resided there was involved, except for perhaps German national Andreas Strassmeir but a number of these men who were parts of Aryan groups and visited Elohim City a number of times were, inc. the guy who was known as John Doe #2.  #2 was eventually found dead in his prison cell, made to look like a suicide by the way, same as another guy before him, Kenneth Trentadue, who had nothing to do with the OCK bombing but had the unfortunate coincidences of having the same stocky build and same dragon type tat on his forearm.

I am currently reading this book by Gumbel and Charles and look forward to see if they have something new to add.
