Brian Byrne

Brian Byrne was born in Tulsa and lived in Oklahoma (mostly Tulsa) for the first 30 years of his glorious tenure as a resident of planet Earth. He has worked as a copy editor at the Tulsa World, a proofreader of math textbooks in Norman, and as a producer at KWGS, Tulsa’s NPR affiliate, where he gained a vague sort of renown with a series of 29-second weather forecasts that frequently focused only peripherally on the weather.

Brian left Tulsa for Chicago in 2006, seeking a better working life for his wife, a librarian, a more sausage-intensive upbringing for his then-infant son, and an escape from religious fundamentalism for all concerned. He fiercely loves his new home, but frequently misses the little things about Tulsa: Ample parking, cheap housing, the ability to get anywhere in the metro area in 20 minutes or less, and of course the praying hands at ORU. He blogs inattentively and infrequently at www.byrneunit.com/blogs.
