Carlos Knight
Senior Art Director
This Land has taught Carlos Knight a thing or two about first impressions. Like many a disillusioned Oklahoman, the small-town Haskell native was once eager to leave the state and see the world. Now that he has seen it, Knight stresses there’s nowhere he belongs more than Tulsa. When his former boss at an ad agency approached him about a job at This Land, he was skeptical about a small new magazine’s ability to survive during the so-called death of print. Now in charge of This Land’s entire aesthetic, Knight has learned his job is much more than just ink on paper and that certain things look better in print than anywhere else. His large role at Oklahoma’s loudest new voice in journalism has sculpted the end result of these misconceptions into an enthusiastic consciousness of the power and importance of his job. As the head of visuals at This Land, Knight helps bring Oklahoma’s most intriguing stories to life.
