Since Rupurt Murdoch controls the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal I make it a point NOT to waste my time reading their opinions. When they tell Oklahoma Republicans to lower the State's taxes I'm inclined to want the opposite to happen. The overall tax rates (including property, etc) in surrounding states are roughly the same - even in no income tax Texas. Taxes aren't our problem, a poorly-educated workforce (look at the numbers!) and lawlessness/violence are the real problems.

It is possible the Monk you saw was an Augustinian Friar. You were relatively close to Cascia Hall High School and monastary. I'll check with Fr. Bernie next time I see him to see if there is any 30something with a Jack Russell that lives there. The Augustinian habits are black with hoods.

Totally amazing!!! How you can so eloquently tell the journey thru trials, pain & hurt of the Unknown. Learning more which only leadsto the path of agony realizing you still do not know. Which is the harder to know nothing or to learn and still not know?? If they were here, what their reaction would be? Would they still be on the same road and not care, as so many of them have? Would they hang their heads in shame for a past not able to hide. Would they beam with pride knowing they came thru the fire and it is all "just the past". Would they be the stronger, better, loving people like you are? Would they be AS PROUD of YOU as I am? I choose to believe the latter. LOVEYOU ALWAYS.

I have not heard that Keena Roberts kids all have different dads. I heard they were all from the same married man!! and when the married man wouldn't leave his loving wife she accused that poor guy of trying to kidnap and rape her, and then the last kid, now 12, she gave away to be raised by a family member. So, its true she has a pattern of using her kids to get her way. I feel sorry for her, she really needs mental health help, and soon.

Is Keena Roberts so stupid, or so angry, that Shawn King didn't want pictures of her with him? Seems like Keena is way jealous of Cristy. Who else would have put on a rant like that last post. Maybe that is why Keena Roberts keeps going in for more "enhancements" to the plastic surgeon. Maybe she thinks that it she had boobs like Cristy, Shawn would take her trailer trash self back. Poor girl, next time, she needs to try the "enhancements" someplace else.

I think an "open carry" law was what allowed the black panthers to legally brandish firearms openly, usually in the presence of the police. I think Oakland, or California, ultimately came to believe this law was a bad idea.

Its bad reporting to link these earthquakes to fracking. What was investigated was Saltwater disposal wells. This is an entirely different process then hydraulic fracturing stimulation used in production of wells. Your article is essentially like blaming astronauts for prank calls. (since both use satellites)
See, disposal companies disposing water who incorrectly place that water in a fault zone are neither employed by the energy company nor have anything to do with a gas wells success or failure. They are the disposal or garbage men. If they did improperly dispose of waste and didn't do their geology then they and only they should be investigated in regards to earthquakes caused by wells. Anyone else who blames fracking for earthquakes just sounds tremendously uninformed. If you read any of the articles that explored the issue you'd come to the same conclusion. But "Frack" sells more copies of the news. Welcome to This Land's hysteria created to sell This Land

Thanks for such a well balanced and researched article.

I'd like to take another, simplistic as it is, view of the matter, and I won't talk about earthquakes.

From what I understand, to get this vast amount of natural gas from the ground we must pump in millions of gallons of water and mystery chemicals, which cause the bedrock to fracture.

This doesn't sound too smart to me. I thought bedrock was supposed to be solid. I've seen too many houses getting piers because they weren't built on something solid. Imagine a whole town. This may be an exaggeration, but we honestly just don't know.

Then the water is retrieved and pumped deep into the ground where there isn't any gas, just to dispose of it, along with the mystery chemicals.

This doesn't sound too smart either, especially when we don't know what the chemicals are. We do get water from wells and like peeing in the pool, just one accident ruins everybody's party.

And we do this to retrieve a fossil fuel that we burn to produce energy, a by-product of which are the gases that cause global warming, or contribute to climate change, if you'd rather.

That doesn't sound too smart either. The end result of all this fracking is we're still burning a fossil fuel, cleaner, but still a fossil fuel.

Honesty, we know burning fossil fuels is poisonous. Look what happens when you
lock yourself in the garage with the car running. Now you know what that smog is in LA. -- lots of cars running. We really don' have to argue about climate change. Burning fossil fuels is poisonous.

So.

I'd rather not put mystery chemicals into the ground where my water comes from. Can't call the pool guy on that one, it's over. I'd rather save the millions of gallons of water used for fracking and use it for drinking. We're already using 3gal. flush toilets. Where will that end?

I'd rather not burn any fossil fuel to turn a steam turbine for electricity. Not only will this release who knows how many cars worth of poisons into the atmosphere, these turbines use incredible amounts of water. Some studies say as much as half of all we use in this country, which again, I would rather drink.

We shouldn't be addicting our nation to yet another fossil fuel. If, at the end of the day every injection site ends up being another Pitcher, OK, which is possible the data is inconclusive, we will have destroyed that which we sought to save.

I'd much rather steer clear of the whole fracking mess (pun intended) and move on to sustainable energy sources now.

See, I didn't mention earthquakes.

Thanks for such a well balanced and researched article.

I’d like to take another, simplistic as it is, view of the matter, and I won’t talk about earthquakes.

From what I understand, to get this vast amount of natural gas from the ground we must pump in millions of gallons of water and mystery chemicals, which cause the bedrock to fracture.

This doesn’t sound too smart to me. I thought bedrock was supposed to be solid. I’ve seen too many houses getting piers because they weren’t built on something solid. Imagine a whole town. This may be an exaggeration, but we honestly just don’t know.

Then the water is retrieved and pumped deep into the ground where there isn’t any gas, just to dispose of it, along with the mystery chemicals.

This doesn’t sound too smart either, especially when we don’t know what the chemicals are. We do get water from wells and like peeing in the pool, just one accident ruins everybody’s party.

And we do this to retrieve a fossil fuel that we burn to produce energy, a by-product of which are the gases that cause global warming, or contribute to climate change, if you’d rather.

That doesn’t sound too smart either. The end result of all this fracking is we’re still burning a fossil fuel, cleaner, but still a fossil fuel.

Honesty, we know burning fossil fuels is poisonous. Look what happens when you
lock yourself in the garage with the car running. Now you know what that smog is in LA. — lots of cars running. We really don’ have to argue about climate change. Burning fossil fuels is poisonous.

So.

I’d rather not put mystery chemicals into the ground where my water comes from. Can’t call the pool guy on that one, it’s over. I’d rather save the millions of gallons of water used for fracking and use it for drinking. We’re already using 3gal. flush toilets. Where will that end?

I’d rather not burn any fossil fuel to turn a steam turbine for electricity.
So TLP where does this story stand.... Have the photo's been handed over... and what if anything has TPD done about any of it... Tulsa has been let down by several here.... 1. Shawn King- Sexual misconduct. 2. TPD- insufficient punishment and lack of investigation. 3. Journalist- Letting this die after reporting earth shattering information... Truly a sad state of ''affairs".... pardon the pun.

I have worked with Shantelle for maybe 12 years, and had no idea about this part of her life, as she is always so grounded and loving. We discovered that we both lost a parent before age 2 and talked about not knowing how to process that info at such a young age, except my story is very different, in that I lost my Dad in vietnam, he was a fighter pilot. Anyway, great job Shantelle!!

Maybe he meant flat as in dull or lifeless? He never really said that the land was flat--he just said that the towns were flat and mean and hot. Flat has more than one definition. The word 'mean' isn't describing the land of the towns, so why do you assume that the word 'flat' is? Maybe I'm wrong, though. I could be wrong.

We ran the Studio in the mid 80s when it was called Greystone Studios. Everyone who came into the studio seemed to have a Leon Russell story or a GAP Band story. When we were in the building it had "The 1st Church of God" on the cornerstone. Emanuel Baptist is down the street and that building was built in 1968.

The Leon Russell studio was originally Emanuel Baptist CHurch. Very large attendance during 40s and 50s. The church eventually built the large church plant a few blocks east of Church Studio. Now the population has had so many changes that the church has gone through lean and difficult times. Our family have happy memories of Emanuel Baptist Church before Leon.

Nice to know that they allow six year olds to post... Maybe a police officer jerking off in his office on his uniform is acceptable in your house... but not in mine.. I hope you were just having a bad day and that you can share this is truly disgusting...

King needs to be investigated for his near KKK activities. He is known to be involved in alot of beatings of Black people in North Tulsa. He has his own code words and has taught his lower ranking officers to follow his lead on this. There have been wispers about this for years but, King and TPD covers these up. It is very strange his five day penalty started and was served while all the random shooters man hunt was taking place. Kiing as a leder should have been helping in this matter but, TPD could not afford King on the streets to beat more innocent people. King was relaxing in the Bahamas with Mrs. Rick Seigfried gettng his scuba certification. Im sure on Mr. Seigfrieds dime. Was Mr. Seigfried along who knows? But, it is clear Mrs. Seigfried DD. And Captain were and are doing the nasty. Poor thing how did he talk his way into that one?
