Since it is no longer "Guns, Gays, & God" does this mean the conservatives have admitted that marriage equality is no longer a divisive issue, that everyone deserves respect and dignity and equal protection under the law; and if so when will they realize that attacking women's rights is equally unfavorable?

Very funny! Though some sort of /sarcasm or /humor tag might be necessary to make it clear that this is satire to those who take everything too seriously. Unless it isn't satire? See, even I need something like that sometimes to keep from being confused! Heh, "submarine attack" indeed.
Though I must say, Baptismal re-enactments might be an interesting tourist draw...

I grew up in Altus and always thought it was the southwest. Sagebrush, cactus, cowboys, indians.... And HEAT. Then you go to southeast OK and it's swamps, alligators, and palmettos! The first time went to Broken Bow I'd have sworn I was in a different state. We definitely don't fit with any of the accepted regions. Imagine if eastern OK had become the state of Sequoyah as originally attempted. We'd have a MUCH clearer definition of where we'd belong. Eastern OK might as well be the moon to me... And I'd bet people from there would feel the same about my stomping ground.

Interesting. I would like to see some real data about how that particular section of road would "greatly benefit" the Oklahoma economy. Give me a list of the businesses, what type of business they are, what kind of frontage they have facing the highway, how much traffic runs through that section of highway, ease of access for side roads off said highway, and I might believe that it will have a large impact on Oklahoma as a whole. It might bee a boon to that neighborhood, but unless there are some large producers or industries right there, that employ people from across the state, then there is little chance it will be a boon to Stillwater, or Ada, or anywhere else.

Great article. While I agree with Hackler that race classification means nothing, in terms of human rights, culture is very important to most people. I am only 1/2 Scot-Irish, and 100% American, but that doesn't mean I don't have an emotional connection to Ireland and Scotland. It is not about race, it is about understanding your origins and your heritage. There is nothing racist about supporting another person's right to learn their own heritage.

Dardom, I think this is more of a journalistic article than an opinion editorial. I would think the grade F itself means things need to change. Pointing out the problem is the first step in solving it...of course, many of us have known this for a long time.

It's interesting to me that I actually *like* the wording you have quoted from the proposed legislation. Those are things that *should* be happening in science classrooms (and most other classrooms, too), though legislation shouldn't be required to make it happen. In essence, it looks like the law would actually *require* teaching those subjects, where they aren't being mentioned now at all. What would be funny is if the law were actually passed and someone sued their school for not teaching evolution in light of the requirements of this law.

Randy, I can hardly type, tears fill my eyes ... I know the message of your Heart and Soul consist of the agony of not being Accepted and Loved for who yourself ..But the the transparentcy of your words, bare the wounds, of the same Jesus we know . I don't want to sound like I'm preaching and just "QUOTE SCRIPTURE " at YOU, as My family did AND your family has done your whole life ... But You have been a " Man of Sorrows aquainted with Grief" Caring enough, then, as well as, share Your Loving & Wounded Heart, with the World ... As I wrote to you before ( day ago or so ) I am a silver haired Grandmother who is straight . NOT SAYING THAT IN ANYWAY OTHER WAY THAN TO HOPE MY SINCERE WORDS BRING YOU COMFORT IN A DIFFERENT WAY ... Hope that makes sense ??? Lovingly Debbie

I was never a fan of Brother Oral growing up, though I certainly knew members of his family and even got to meet him on one occasion.

Thank you for giving me a different perspective on the man. It's certainly something to learn from.

I just came across this page and wanted to mention that you in OK and we have a rare treasure in Roxanne. Not only does she have that pedigree of radicalism and activism in her family but she herself has been involved in some of the most important radical and liberation movements of our time. She's been involved in the Woman's Movement, the American Indian Movement (AIM,) the anti Vietnam War movement, etc., and is still active, and this is not to mention her importance as a scholar writing about things the powers that be would like us to forget like Oklahoma's radical history, the Green Rebellion and many other things.

We are using spray foam and siding on the outside. From my research the paint you are talking about wouldn't work in our Oklahoma climate. I don't know of any contractors, but I am actually thinking of doing some contracting and building of shipping container homes when I'm done with mine. Contact Cisco containers in Tulsa. He has helped on several projects. Or contact me through my blog link. BrightContainerHouse.blog.com

Does anyone realize how ridiculous it is to think fracking causes earthquakes?

Earthquakes are massive geological movements. Fracking, while it may seem 'big' to us, is minuscule compared to something like an earthquake.

Of course you can't completely rule out the connection, but it's like saying there's a 99% chance that they're unrelated yet focusing on the 1% that they are.

The Post article implies Congressional members can bend the rules more easily than others. No wonder they fight so hard and dirty to get elected to lifetime sinecures.

Zachs' dad here. They (Zach & JEN) have grown together very beautifully over the last 12 years, overcoming many obstacles. They have a strong bond and will not be shaken.  Z&J are doing a wonderful "job" training up their 3 VERY intelligent and individualistic children.  Here is some of the story from my side;
Zachs' pastor at the time of their engagement called me and asked if I had met Jennifer and what I thought about their decision. I remember telling him that I had not yet met Jen. I added that I knew my son and trusted his spirit. If he said that Jennifer was the the woman God had for him then it was so.

Since Terry states in the ad that he is "Democrat candidate for President," doesn't that indicate he is not a bona fide candidate? A well-researched article in Wikipedia clearly states that the word "Democrat," when used in this manner, is an epithet favored by Republicans (Rush Limbaugh uses it exclusively). In reality, there is no such thing as the "Democrat Party." Something to consider?

I lived in Tulsa when Randy was young and I came out there--to friends, at age 20. It took me 17 more years before I came out to my fundamentalist Christian family, because I feared the devastating rejection that Randy has experienced. I was lucky that my family told me they loved me just the same and always would. My being gay has never been discussed (with me) since that coming out (via a letter agonized over for several tearful hours), and my family was accepting of and kind to my one long-term partner. My father has since passed away, but I am certain he didn't believe that I'm going to Hell. My mom and siblings are not parade-walking PFLAG members, but not hearing condemnation from them makes their sparse involvement in my life easier. I count my blessings and live a full, happy, and healthy life. Life is too short not to. Best wishes, Randy, as you carry on spreading the gospel of love and acceptance.
