Jeremy Luther
Art Director/Illustrator
If he had to say where he was from, the nomadic Jeremy Luther, 29, would call Kansas City his hometown. He has lived all over the world, but he has never been anywhere quite like Tulsa. Luther sees it as a place of extreme contradictions; where everyone knows each other, but there’s always someone new; where the people are either incredible or terrible (and never in between); both riddled with international chains and home to more local businesses than anywhere he’s seen. As a Kansas City Art Institute student encouraged to come here, he has developed a surprising connection to the city’s art scene, an impressive representation of the big fish, small pond feel inherent to its residents. Though Luther was once convinced there was nothing new in America, Tulsa has stood as his reminder that there are still pockets with a lot of character—it’s just not readily apparent.
