A longtime love affair with film led Joshua Kline to believe he’d eventually make movies. However, after producing several rather terrible short films (whose stories usually involved time loops, Jewish guilt and homeless teenagers), he chose to forge a new path for himself as a journalist. For several years, he toiled away as a freelance film critic and music writer for various local publications. Then he met This Land. It was love at first sight. He began as a contributor and has since grown with the paper to become its staff writer. Kline was recently a finalist for “Magazine Writer of the Year” for the 2011 Great Plains Journalism Awards.
