This Land

It’s not that Tulsa-bred Matt Leach has never wanted to leave his hometown—it’s that he’s never had to. Most times he’s thought about leaving, a good opportunity would come out of the woodwork and keep him here. Tulsa’s homegrown culture means working in the arts doesn’t cost much, and it seems he can always find someone passionate and willing to help on a project. As a good collaboration is usually a phone call away, Leach believes the only thing holding an artist back is a lack of motivation. While he has experience as an editor at Channel 8, Leach admires This Land’s devotion to a good story versus everyday news. His current job sparks an ongoing awareness and interest in Tulsa’s evolution, and considering the best work is born of enthusiasm, Leach remains enthusiastic about the many stories our state has to offer.
