Laura Barnes, Middle School Teacher

Laura Barnes‘ life was filled with achievement and wonder. She was a much-adored teacher at Carver Middle School–even earning a Teacher of the Year award there. Outside of school, she entrenched herself in the community, through church (Boston Avenue Methodist), geology (Oklahoma Society of Geologists), and sailing (Windycrest Sailing Club). It’s fair to say she’s missed by a large number of people.

On this episode of Goodbye Tulsa, we hear from one of those voices–Paige Clark, a former student of Barnes. She recounts the first time she saw “Ms. Barnes” and remembers her as vividly and lovingly as any teacher could wish.
