On May 21, 2011 This Land released an investigative report showing that Tulsa’s police misconduct record was now at 5 times the national average. The report also revealed that Tulsa’s court records are virtually unmonitored and susceptible to tampering.
In this exclusive video with This Land Press, Mayor Dewey Bartlett Jr discusses the challenges of dealing with police misconduct and corruption. Toward the latter half of the interview Bartlett also addresses the issue of disarray at the county clerk’s records office.
To date, while the Mayor has offered a response to the TPD misconduct findings, the Tulsa Police Department remains silent on the issue.
