Michael Wallis is Oklahoma’s most famous connoisseur of Route 66 and the American West. His name has appeared on the cover of more than a dozen books, above articles in publications like the New York Times and the New Yorker, and in the credits of feature films. The Pulitzer nominee lives in Tulsa with his wife, Suzanne, well within earshot of the Mother Road. Photo taken by Terrence Moore in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1981. Used courtesy The Wallis Collection.
