Bill Crawford, aged 90, photographed in Cardin, Oklahoma, in the vacant lot where his home of 66 years once stood. A lead miner for 50 years and six months in the Eagle-Picher mining camp in Cardin, Crawford sold his home in 2008 during the U.S. government’s $60 million federal buyout of the Tar Creek Superfund Site in Ottawa County.
